| | NZFW RUNWAY REPORT & GALLERY: SABATINI AW11By Jason Tapuai-Kuka - Designer Direction
Sabatini have always been
purveyors of fine knitwear that is synonymous with innovation and style.
Yet this year, it’s not only about knitwear, it’s about surface
enrichment of texture through the use of sequins, cut-out shapes and
sheer details that create an air of sensuality.
Rounded necklines were favoured than that of the ‘v’ kind. Sequined
knit tops are the exciting alternative to plain cable. A sole vertical
line of repeated diamond shapes go up-the-middle of the front, providing
a provocative view of flesh, and this cut-out shape was seen on the
leggings too.
Gorgeous gowns finish the show. In particular a sheer-to-opaque
sequenced stripe in black, with gold speckling – that cascades
outwardly, with gloves to refine the look.

 | | EXPERT EYE: SABATINI AND AUGUSTINEBy Janetta Mackay - New Zealand Herald
New Zealand's answer to Missoni showed why the Sabatini label has been a stayer with a show displaying its mastery of knits.
By
keeping weaves light the pieces have won an export market to warmer
climates such as Australia, but it is the technical inventiveness that
keeps the label fresh.
In taking the comfort of knit into fashion
territory, Sabatini has become one of New Zealand fashion's quiet
success stories, whom it was good to see back in the spotlight.

 | | SABATINI STICKS TO ITS KNITTINGBy Claire Hahn - thread.co.nz
Sabatini
does best what Sabatini does; luxe knit wear in easy to wear freeform
shapes styled with strong Euro influences and contrasted with just a
touch of slick leather and fur trims.
The show opened with
classic Sabatini multi-stripe knit pieces with just a hint of metallic
thread which also closed the show in the form of two full-length gowns
featuring peek-a-boo style sheer panelling and mermaid shaping.
In between, the strength of the label showed through in extremely sharp
tailored coats in a variety of textures and tones which were tied
together styled with matching gators.

 | | SABATINI AND AUGUSTINE @ NZFWBy Remix
An
elaborate and very dramatic start set the mood for the Sabatini show
with a short film which bought life to the collection in which we
followed the artist and his muse for the collection.
Tassels and
crochet were teamed with leather and fur for an edgy movie star glamour
that was the theme running throughout the show.
The more
tailored pieces had a Coco Channel classic feel to them even though the
fabric was reminiscent of the 1970’s hippy vibe.
Sabatini delivered a show in all aspects of the connotation. The music and song selection was perfect for the collection.
